Ministry to kids and families is one top priority at St. Michael’s. 

 

I         Kid Kingdom starts in church through the Songs of Praise at 10:00 Sundays.  The children follow the Kid Kingdom Leaders out of church and into the Helicopter Room for an exciting time of learning.  September—June, f/files/Kid Kingdom/Image1533.jpgor Grades Pre-K–5, featuring Godly Play storytelling, prayer, songs, and a craft activity that is planned periodically. Kids rejoin their families for Communion in church.  Led by Lay Leaders and Parents.  During July and August, we feature Vacation Bible Sundays with crafts, stories, songs and activities, led by Maureen O’Callaghan and other parents.

 

I         Nursery care is available for under-3s on Sunday mornings from 9:30-Noon, staffed by Professional Child Care Provider, Pat Menzo. Many parish events also offer free childcare.

 

I         Intergenerational Activities for the whole St. Michael’s family are featured at the Annual Family Camping Weekend; and at many picnics, pizza parties, and other fun activities.

 

I         Serving.  Kid Kingdom Kids in Grade 5 may serve as Acolytes, and in other special ways.

Teens

 

The mission of our Youth Group is:  “To create a positive peer group, composed of young people (Grades 6-12) and their adult advisors, whereby we can grow into the abundant life promised by Jesus Christ.”  Our Youth Ministry seeks to reinforce and support family life, in a strong and positive manner.  Several components of our current Youth Group ministry are:

 

v  Youth Group Meetings & Bible Study, exploring the Bible in creative and fun ways that relate to our daily lives.

 

v  Special Activities, Service Projects, and Fun Events, such as Nightwatch at Cathedral of St. John the Divine, service to our community at Faith in Action Quarterly weekends, Rafting, Lazer Tag, Lock-ins, etc., coordinated by Parents & Friends of Youth Group.

 

v  Youth Group Retreats give youth time away to reflect on their relationship with God.  The next retreat is scheduled at Cross Roads Camp for February 19-21, 2010

 

v  Opportunities to Serve as Acolytes, Kids Church Assistants, Nursery Assistants, Lay Readers, Ushers, etc.

 

v  Intergenerational Activities for the whole St. Michael’s family are featured at a Family Camping Weekend, and at many picnics, pizza parties, and other fun activities.

 

v  Youth Group Adult Advisors include:  Mark Mahon  and Erin Panfile.  Clergy Advisor:  Fr. John.
