Our DIXIELAND PENTECOST CELEBRATION was a spectacular day of joy. The Centennial Jazz Band played in the narthex, charming the ears of everyone as they entered for worship. On entering the nave our eyes beheld a beautifully decorated church. We clapped and sang as the jazz band accompanied the procession and the recession to When the Saints Go Marching In. After a wonderful jazz worship and a sizzling sermon we had a delicious picnic lunch of fried fish and red beans & rice. The band played Dixieland music while we ate, the children played games and the horseshoe competition commenced. The presence of the Holy Spirit was palpable in church and within our fellowship. Many thanks to Carlene Gentry whose brainchild it was, and to the Dixieland Committee and all who helped in any way—it was a concerted effort on the part of the whole Body of Christ to glorify God, enjoy each other, and have a great time. If you want to be "in that number", don't miss next year's Pentecost!
